A Stylish Extension in the Kitchen

In the project designed by Martijn, a beautiful floating pantry was created, fitting perfectly above the existing kitchen layout. This pantry makes optimal use of the previously unused space and is a beautiful example of the creative use of Timberboard Pine light. The planks were carefully cut to size with the service of OPMAATZAGEN.nl, which ensures a perfect finish and fit. The result is a harmonious integration with the existing white kitchen, in which natural wood tones add a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Construction and Unique Details

The pantry is made of light pine wood and consists of several open compartments that are ideal for storing spices, jars and other kitchen utensils. With its light and natural color, it fits perfectly with the white kitchen cabinets below. The shelves are precisely matched to the height of the jars and boxes, which ensures a tidy and organized look.

This project was realized above the counter, which is a very practical choice within the kitchen. Step by step guide

Preparation

To create some extra kitchen storage space in this studio apartment I wanted to top the kitchen unit with a cupboard. After measuring this to the millimeter and making some sketches of a layout on the size, pots and such I finally came to this design. Then ordered the material which arrived about a week later.
Some of the wood ordered was for an adjustment of a previous project.

Montage

All wooden planks were accurate to the millimeter except 1, neat with characteristic on the sticker which made it a fairly simple kit. This single plank eventually planed a bit myself during assembly. The whole is put together with dowels and screws of which some are left visible.

Finish

In terms of finishing, only one plank needs to be planed. The wood remains untreated for now. The small partitions are loosely clamped in, which gives some room for manoeuvre with the layout.
