What types of shelf brackets are available?

Shelf pin

When we think of shelf brackets, we immediately think of the small shelf pins that we use in our TOSIZE cabinets. We use these small metal pins to attach flexibly adjustable shelves (usually behind a door). We drill a row of holes in these cabinets. And for each shelf, we supply four shelf pins to use as shelf supports. This gives you flexibility in your cabinet layout and allows you to store both large and small items in your cabinet.

L-shelf bracket / shelf brackets

Sometimes you just want to hang a shelf on the wall because it's practical. It doesn't have to be beautiful, and you want to get it done quickly. In that case, use L-shelf brackets. You attach them to the wall with 2-3 screws, and once you've done that at least twice, you can already put a shelf on them. That way, you're done quickly and it's inexpensive. You can buy L-shelf brackets on every street corner, and you can choose the shelves yourself and have them cut to size at OPMAATZAGEN.nl.

Shelf brackets met rails

For heavier items, there are shelf brackets with rails. You know the ones: the white ones you used to see in every shed and stair cupboard. As simple as they are effective. You attach the rails or strips vertically to the wall with 30-60 cm spacing. This depends on the weight the shelf has to bear and the depth of the shelves. You attach the shelf brackets to these rails. They should be at the same height from left to right, and you can adjust the spacing between them to suit what you want to put on them. Place custom-made melamine shelves on the shelf brackets, and your custom storage shelves are ready. This system with shelf brackets on rails is also known as the F-system. For an industrial look, these rails and shelf brackets are also available in black.

Decorative shelf brackets

In addition, decorative shelf brackets are available for shelves that need to be functional and look good too. Sturdy black metal shelf brackets or subtle leather straps. Or go for the industrial look with shelf brackets made from scaffolding tube couplings. There's something for everyone!

Blind shelf brackets

For those who want to go to the next level, there are also blind shelf supports. These are ideal if you want to use the shelf itself to create an attractive look. This often involves thicker shelves such as plywood, a painted 38 mm MDF shelf or a decorative laminated shelf with neatly finished sides. Exactly the same colour as your TOSIZE cabinet.

We call this method of attachment “blind” because you cannot see the shelf supports at all. This often requires a little more skill, as you have to drill the holes in the shelves yourself and sometimes mill out the space for the mounting plate. The end result looks incredibly cool, but you should bear in mind that the load-bearing capacity of this system is slightly lower than that of a sturdy (visible) L-shaped shelf bracket.

In addition to blind shelf brackets that you drill into, there are also blind shelf brackets that work like rails. You mill or saw these into the sides. Or you can use hollow shelves that you slide over slats on the wall. This method is similar to the “slat system”, but with hollow shelves.
