Arjan has created a beautiful wall cabinet that is not only functional but also a stylish addition to the living room. This wall cabinet offers ample space for books, accessories, and decorative items, and also serves as an eye-catcher against the subtly painted wall.

The Construction Process

The cabinet is made of sustainable MDF Primed, resulting in an extremely smooth and paint-friendly finish. Arjan chose the color Sikkens 4041 Color Concept H2.10.70, which harmonizes perfectly with the interior and creates a serene look.

MDF Primed

MDF Primed is a practical choice for a project like this. It is easy to paint and ensures an even finish. Moreover, the material is budget-friendly and versatile, making it ideal for DIY projects.

DIY tips: For an optimal finish, it is important to thoroughly degrease and lightly sand the MDF panels before painting. This ensures better paint adhesion and a professional-looking result.

Tips from Arjan

Designing, assembling, and finishing the cabinet are all straightforward. The end result is robust and sturdy. Our tips: pay close attention to the dimensions during the design phase. In the editor, the dimensions sometimes shifted for us. The difficulty lies in the fact that you cannot enter numbers. We first bought toy bins and measured them so that we could utilize the space as optimally as possible. When assembling, be sure to consider the front and back of a shelf. In principle, the dowels are designed so that everything fits in only one way. The beauty of primed MDF is that you can color everything yourself (and change it later). The shelves generally fit together well; we did not finish them further in most places. We only caulked the inner seams of the three compartments.
