In this DIY project, Kim shows how he made a beautiful large sideboard himself. He ordered the sawn boards online so he could start his project straight away. Read more about his experience below.

Description from Kim

I attached a sideboard for a sound system and books to the wall over a width of around 5m and illuminated it. The result looks super classy.

How I made this project

The shelf consists of 3 simple box modules, each with a subdivision. I had the boards cut to size and screwed them in places that were not visible. They are 12mm birch multiplex with a white melamine coating. I made a strip from the leftovers, which I screwed to the wall, onto which the modules were then mounted. The oak wood panels on the top are from another company. A dimmable LED strip for around 30 euros provides passive lighting.

Dimensions of my DIY project

508.0 x 30.0 x 30.0 cm
