We transformed our basic Besta Ikea TV unit into something more interesting using the spruce plank from OPMAATZAGEN.nl. By extending the plank beyond the TV unit, we created a sort of desk where our daughter can happily play and draw. All that was needed was sanding and staining the plank in the desired color, then we secured the plank to the wall using reinforcement brackets and screwed it into the TV unit.

How I Made This Project

We extended the plank beyond the TV unit, creating a sort of desk where our daughter can happily play and draw. Our TV unit is 180 cm wide and we chose a 3-meter plank, resulting in a desk width of 120 cm. All that was needed was sanding and staining the plank in the desired color, then we secured the plank to the wall using reinforcement brackets and screwed it into the TV unit. Since the plank was already well cut to size, we didn’t need to make any further adjustments.

Dimensions of My DIY Project

Our TV unit is 180 cm wide, and the plank we placed on it is 300 cm wide, so the total width is also 300 cm, but you can adjust this to fit your own situation.
